Trouble installing 4.0 on AS255

When the install process attempts to start the X server, the screen
eventually goes black and then just sits there. The CD stops accessing
after a bit as well.

I have 32 megs of RAM with a PBXGB-AA card with 2meg of RAM.

Is there something I am doing wrong? Can I keep from trying to use the X
install?
