Hi Digital Unix Manager,
for about a week I wrote:
==========================
I have problems with the line printer subsystem (lpr/lprm).
When a user spool a file from machine 'a' to a printer it isn't
possible for her/him to remove the printjob from machine 'b'.
I tried this with the ultrix and the linux slackware lp subsystem.
Both look at or inside the 'cf-file' (control file) and deny
to remove the appropriate job.
Is there someone out which knows about a portable printer subsystem?
It should be portable to
- Digital Unix 4.0B
- Linux 2.*
- Windows NT 4.0
With the Slackware lpr I've got problems with io-controls
of the tty device while trying to port to ultrix.
I think I'm not the first one with this kind of feature, so it would
be nice if somone can give me a hint or recommendation.
==========================
Now the summary:
There was no one outside which any suggestion, tips or help!
I'll now (start at about 6. August) try to port only the 'lprm'
command from the linux slackware distribution.
Your's sincerely
Norbert
