Hi list,
I have a problem with a DDS2 tape drive (TLZ09) on a alphaserver 1000a.
Sometimes, during night backup on tape, SCSI errors occur. This problem
doesn't happen every night, mostly night backups are fine.
I have plenty of error in kern.log :
Jul 7 23:14:18 tkaldod1 vmunix: cam_logger: CAM_ERROR packet
Jul 7 23:14:18 tkaldod1 vmunix: cam_logger: bus 0 target 0 lun 0
Jul 7 23:14:18 tkaldod1 vmunix: ss_perform_timeout
Jul 7 23:14:18 tkaldod1 vmunix: timeout on disconnected request
and finally :
Jul 7 23:14:22 tkaldod1 vmunix: cam_logger: CAM_ERROR packet
Jul 7 23:14:22 tkaldod1 vmunix: cam_logger: bus 0 target 5 lun 0
Jul 7 23:14:22 tkaldod1 vmunix: ctape_async
Jul 7 23:14:22 tkaldod1 vmunix: Bus reset notification
Jul 7 23:14:22 tkaldod1 vmunix: Hard Error Detected
Jul 7 23:14:22 tkaldod1 vmunix: DEC TLZ09
after that, the drive is unavailable. Even after reboot the drive is not
recognized, I have to power off the machine and cold boot to have the drive
again.
Do you have any idea about this problem? Is it possible to retrieve the
drive without to cold boot?
Thanks a lot.
