I am attempting to reconfigure a number of linux boxes that use a
Digital PrintServer that is connected to a DUNIX box running DUNIX 4.0
The linux boxes previously could print to the printer, but have recently
been moved to a different sub-net and after modifying hosts.lpd and
hosts.allow to include the appropriate (i think) lines, printing is
still not working...
the linux boxes are giving the following errors when doing an lpd
(names have been change to conceal the identity of the innocent)
linux# lpq
Printer: pf_duplex is pacific_duplex_at_server
Warning: linux.domain does not have access to remote printer pacific_duplex
The entries on the server include the following....
hosts.allow
ALL: xxx.xxx.xxx : allow # for the linux subnet
hosts.lpd
linux.domain # allow printing from that client
This could be a subnet problem, but I thought I'd get some input from
anyone who might see a problem with what I've done or not done.
The machines can access the machine that the printer is connected to
with no problems, it seems that printing is the only thing that is not
working...
I've restarted the lpd daemon after the changes were made, and the above
errors still exist. Is there something that I am missing.?
