Hy,
has anyone experienced Sony DAT SDT-7000 on Alpha?

I installed one of this on an Alpha server 1000A running
DU 4.08. The installation was fine, the computer recognize the
DAT drive but I cannot read or write on the tapes.
The command mt works correctly, but when I try to read a tape
it get stack. When I try to write on it using e.g.

   tar cv /dev/rmt0h <directory>

I get

 tar: write : I/O error
 tar: Tape write error

Similar answer if I use dump or cpio. Needless to say that I
checked that the tape is not write-protected.

Thanks for the help

Andrea
