Summary answer:
uname -a on V4.0C returns:
OSF1 hostname V4.0 564.32 alpha
The Digital UNIX FAQ (recently updated on comp.unix.osf.osf1,
Message-ID: <5rnnnc$i7c_at_usenet.pa.dec.com>) has listings of other OS
revisions/versions (V2.0 through V4.0B)
FYI, field test of Digital UNIX V4.0D (called T4.0-2) yields:
% uname -a
OSF1 cortland T4.0 757.2 alpha
% sizer -v
Digital UNIX T4.0D-2 (Rev. 757.2); Fri Jul 25 15:03:41 EDT 1997
but of course the revision will change before the final version of V4.0D
ships.
Martin Moore <martin_at_decatl.alf.dec.com> of Digital noted that 'sizer
-v' might be useful, and that 'uname -r' will be fixed in some future release:

This is coming in a future version. As a workaround in 4.0 and up,
you can do sizer -v to get the full version info:
(8)# sizer -v
Digital UNIX V4.0B (Rev. 564); Fri Jul 18 16:38:43 EDT 1997
