I'm about ready to give up on this drive. I have a 2GB APS drive
which has a 7200 rpm Micropolis 4221 drive. I've sent it back to APS
a couple of times and they say it's ok. The last time I got it back,
I stuck it on a Mac, formatted, and ran the AAAPS diagnostics several
times. It looked clean.
I put it on my 3000/400 as rz11, wrote a label, and newfs'd it.
Things look ok. But when I attempted to restore some backfile from
a tape, it ended up hanging.
I tried formatting with scu, and starting over, but that made matters
worse. The newfs went like molasses and finally hung after it was
about 80% done.
I'd appreciate any suggestions for formatting/testing this drive and
making it work.
