Tape to tape copy

Any one have any success ( or need ) to do a tape to tape copy with a
tape that have various formats / block sizes??

I have tapes with oracle v6 export files dumped directly to tape
in-between tar files....( yeah yeah yeah I know ).

My attempts at using dd have failed....any ideas would be greatly
appreciated.
