/etc/passwd file

Hi all

I'd like to a make a change to the /etc/passwd file.

I want to change a user's home directory. If I edit the passwd file, it
doesn't seem to accept the changes after I've saved the file. Is there a
subsidiary command I have to issue to force the changes?

I've seen this before when I wanted to change the user's primary group.
I ended up deleting the user & recreating it.

Can anyone shed any light on this

Regards
