[Q] NIS and auto.home

Hi DU Admins

We're planning to use NIS to distribute user account information
over a network of mainly Dec alphas running DU 3.2g and DU4.0[bc].

The file /etc/svc.conf lets you specify the lookup order for most
maps and you can specify local accounts in passwd by putting them
before the "+:" line.

The problem is with auto.home. I would like to be able to specify
a local auto.home to take precedence over the NIS map. That is when
a user logs in if he has an entry in the local auto.home he is logged
into that directory otherwise he is logged in to the directory
specified in the NIS auto.home map.

We need to do this because some of our users have user areas on
more than one machine. We hope to merge these separate areas into
one for each user eventually but we need to get NIS running first
to make this practical.

Is this possible? If so how?

Thanks
Ian
