I recently posted a message regarding problems I was having using a
Micropolis 1991 9gb disk drive with Dec Unix 4.0B.
I had some response but nothing conclusive.
I enclose a sample of the errors that are being created, if this provides
anyone with more of an indication of the problem I would like to hear from them.
As a reminder :-
I think the drive is spinning down when not accessed for a period of time.
The drive has been replaced three times now - with all drives producing the
same result. The mother board and cables have also been replaced, along with
the scsi cables.
If I run a cron job every ten minutes to acces the disk with simple commands
like ls on the 1991 disk the errors disappear. This is a temporary fix but I'd
like something a bit more suitable.
