Proper Sendmail Permissions

Hi managers,

We've recently upgraded to Berkeley Sendmail 8.8.6 on our DU 4.0b system.
It had been working fine and suddenly stopped. For unknown reasons it
reverted to the version distributed on the 4.0b media on Monday. I
corrected the problem by copying the correct Sendmail executable back into
/usr/sbin (having confirmed that sendmail.cf was still correct) and
rebooted the server. All was fine until elm and pine users complained that
their mail was disappearing into the vapors (which I confirmed).

I think this problem is that I have permissions set improperly on sendmail.
They are listed as -rwxr-xr-x. However, when I looked at permissions on
the old version (which I thankfully have saved as sendmail.old)...they are
set to -rwsr-xr-x .

I am painfully new to UNIX and know the basics of setting permissions but
do not know how to get the "s" in there. Do I set them to 4755 ? I'll
probably be flooded with help (since we all like the easy questions), but
I'm desperate to fix this. We're in the middle of registration and the
faculty who rely on elm have very hot breath. :)

Thanks,

Debby
