Are FWSE SCSI devices compatible with FWD devices?

Are Fast, Wide Single-Ended SCSI devices (disks, primarily) electrically
and (presumably) mechanically compatible with Fast, Wide Differential
devices? Can I move such devices onto a non-matching bus and expect
them to work (i.e. FWSE controller <-> FWD drive and FWD controller <->
FWSE drive)?
