Hello,

We are running unix 3.2d-2 on an Alpha 2100A, using Raid level 5. We have
been using the system for just under a year. Recently we are noticing the
system seems to be slowing down. I have 2 sets of system statistics that
I am hoping someone can help me interpret. I am particularly wondering
about the idle time. Not much difference when only 2 users on versus 102
users on.

1) uptime
20:21 up 23 mins, 2 users, load average: 0.00, 0.00, 0.00

   iostat
       tty fd0 rz6 re0 rz8 cpu
tin tout bps tps bps tps bps tps bps tps us ni sy id
   0 25 0 0 0 0 19 1 91 6 2 0 4 94

   vmstat
Virtual Memory Statistics: (pagesize 8192)
 procs memory pages intr cpu
r w u act free wire fault cow zero react pin pout in sy cs us sy id
 2 66 17 13K 56K 8852 66K 17K 17K 174 11K 0 32 560 94 2 4 94

2) uptime
11:09 up 15:10, 102 users, load average: 0.76, 0.95, 0.86

   iostat
       tty fd0 rz6 re0 rz8 cpu
tin tout bps tps bps tps bps tps bps tps us ni sy id
  27 298 0 0 0 0 155 7 33 4 4 0 5 91

   vmstat
Virtual Memory Statistics: (pagesize = 8192)
 procs memory pages intr cpu
r w u act free wire fault cow zero react pin pout in sy cs us sy id
 5313 18 50K 12K 15K 1M 275K 700K 190 316K 0 60 1K 339 4 5 91

Any input on what I can do to improve performance?
Thanks in advance.
