SUMMARY: Deleting Large File Fails To Free Space"

Thank you all for your overwhelming response to my posting. I must
have had 25 responses within a couple of hours.

Everyone let me know the same thing, that is:

The process which created the large file still has it open and the only
way to get the space back is to kill the process.

Two products were suggested to help discover which process was the
guilty party: lsof and fuser. fuser is a programming module
and is part of Digital Unix. lsof is available at:

  ftp://vic.cc.purdue.edu/pub/tools/unix/lsof

I will be getting lsof but have not tried it yet.

Thanks to all who have helped me with this matter. I really appreciate it.
