Thanks to all who sent me replies. Here is the summary of the information
I received:
* The CD type is most likely DEC ufs, and can be read with any DEC unix OS
* The VXT must be set up to use bootp and the sparc machine must be set
up as a bootp server.
* The configuration information cannot be saved unless I use an infoserver
or VAX and use the MOP protocol
* DEC doesn't support the VXT2000 any more, but the software may still be
available from local DEC offices
