Dea People:
I have 2 raid 1, and 3 jbod disks in an alpha 2100 with du4.0b, with
broken bus, and ids 0,1,2,3 for bus a, and 0,1,2 for bus b
I have to move them to an alpha server 1000A,
But the bus when is broken generates ids 0,1,2,3 for bus a, and 4,5,6
for bus b.
So the raids are not recognized.
Now I have to redifine the raids:
In the alpha 2100 I had:
Group A: RAID 1 id0 from bus A and id0 from bus B
Group B: RAID 1 id1 from bus A and id1 from bus B
Group C: id 2 from bus A
Group D: id 3 from bus A
Group C: id 2 from bus B
Now I HAVE TO HAVE in the alpha 1000a:
Group A: RAID 1 id0 from bus A and id4 from bus B
Group B: RAID 1 id1 from bus A and id5 from bus B
Group C: id 2 from bus A
Group D: id 3 from bus A
Group C: id 6 from bus B
My question is:
When I redifine the raids with the raid utility, the contents of the
disks will be erased?
So, If that is true I will have to back up and restore.
Which will be the right procedure that I have to follow?
I have Advfs.
