No line wrapping, information truncated

Hi managers,
We have an Alpha 1000 running DU3.2G.
I have noticed a problem with no line wrapping on our terminals,
however it appears that the problem is not with the terminals, but with the
data being truncated, here's an example.

If I do a "ps -ef | grep messages" it doesn't find anything, and it should
as I am running a tail -f /usr/adm/messages on one of my screens.

The result of a "ps -ef | grep glenn" shows

glenn 28081 27855 0.0 08:27:54 ttyt4 0:00.53 tail -f /usr/adm/messag

This seems to indicate that the data is being truncated before the ps -ef |
grep is performed, and that the problem is not a terminal setup problem.
Can anyone help me with this, if so could you please email me, any
assistance is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Glenn.
