Problems PC Linux <-> Alpha FTP Transmissions

Dear list-members,

using Alphas with DU (now 4.0B) for a long time we now started to
use PCs with Linux 2.0.30 in parallel. We know about the performance
problem between Linux and Alpha using NFS mounts, but we also had
another problem:

While transmitting large files from/to DU-Alphas, it can happen
that the Alpha gets slower and slower and then crashes with a
cpu panic and a memory fault. With one maschine this always happened
after (about) 30 Megs of data. Now a similar behaviour is observed
with another maschine, too. Data transmission between 2 Linux PC or
between 2 Alphas makes no problems.

No the question: Is there anybody with a similar problem? I never
read about FTP problems, only NFS problems.

Best regards,
Volker Hejny
