Here's the original question:
I've configured a RIS server running DU 4.0B using
the new "clone" feature. Everything works fine except
for the patch installation. The remote patch directory
mounts to the clients and setld installs the dupatch
utility however the dupatch script expects the system to
be in single user mode and it also expects the patches to
be on a local filesystem, not mounted via the network.
Dupatch has an option to specify an alternative root path
however this does not fix the problem
Here's the summary:
Knut Hellebo's workaround,
As a quick workaround I've edited the lines requiring dupatch to be run
in single-user mode to install patches. I've installed 3.2c patches
(ALL) on several systems now from multi-user apparently problemfree
(meaning I have not seen any problems yet, even after kernel rebuild and
reboot). To be able to continue just set ERR=0 instead of ERR=1 in the
line below the "echo Requires single user ......"
My workaround,
Using Knuts' workaround, I then set up the postload file to copy
the edited version of dupatch to the client after the patch
subset
is installed. Success!!
Kris Chandrasekhar adds:
It is my understanding that RIS support for dupatch will be available
in a future release.
But on this issue I speak on my own, and you should contact
Digital Customer Support Center 1-800-354-9000 to get the official
answer.
Thanks for the quick responses.
