Here's the final verdict on my question. Thanks for all the responses!

All the people who replied said that the update does not change the version
numbering. The method I ended up using was from Yaacov Fenster :
: Look at a list of the installed patches using "dupatch -track -type
: patch" or using option #4 in a menu oriented session.
Other comments and solutions :
: I doubt very much the patch kits are clever enough to patch the text files
: in your /sys/conf directory that influence the displayed revision number.
: The command "sizer -v" is much more informative than uname, but that's a
: personal preference. And sizer wasn't always able to do -v.
: Tom
: Dr. Thomas P. Blinn, UNIX Software Group, Digital Equipment Corporation
: Do a setld -i the patch stuff will show up there
: Steve
: The revision number will NOT change after applying the jumbo patch. You
might want to
: perform a (#setld -i | grep PAT | more) in order to see what individual
patches were
: actually applied/installed. There is also a way of doing the same thing
within the dupatch
: Utility; but, it has slipped my mind (I think it should be intuitively
obvious when you
: rerun the dupatch Utility (maybe, "track" installed patches).
: Good Luck & Regards,
