Hi managers,

One more suggestion for stopping spam arrived a day after my summary. It
looked like is was worth sharing with all of you, so in case you're
interested, Rick Beebe <BEEBE_at_BIOMED.MED.YALE.EDU> wrote:

We've switched from sendmail to qmail (http://www.qmail.org).
It's easier to configure than sendmail (though its docs are nothing to rave
about--be SURE to read the faq) and it has some nice anti-spam
capabilities. In its default mode it won't allow anyone to relay through
your machine--it will only accept mail destined for the local machine. It's
fairly easy (see faq 5.4) to set it up to allow specific host or networks
to relay and to deny all others.
