SUMMARY (a kind of): Xdec and memory

Ok, as every time this list is terrific ..

First of all Summary: the key idea is to terminate the X server
every time you log out (thus adding the -terminate option to
/usr/dt/config/Xservers). This appear to solve te problem (as
soon as you log out frequently enough).

John Stoffel pointed out that O3D software release 4.5 could
solve the problem. Unfortunately, my last SPL is July 1997 and
contains O3D software 4.4 (I perform the upgrade from release
4.3, but the problem still remains).

Tom Blinn (from DEC) pointed out that there could be a memory leak
in the Xdec software that may be exacerbated by some application I
am running: that's true. I am using the PowerStorm 4D60T (as detected
by the kernel); this odd behaviour is always present (opening
and closing terminals and so on will increase slowly the memory
allocated by Xdec, Netscape release 3 is powering up the problem
by 5 to 10 MB by simply launching it - I'm still waiting for a
release of Netscape release 4 that will not perform memory
        violation in 2/3 minutes).

Finally I wish to thank all the people that answered (in no
        particular order):

Jim Belonis, John Stoffel, Thomas Leitner, Tom Blinn and Gyula Szokoly.

Thanks again for you invaluable help ...
