Hi all,

Thanks to all people who responded especially to Alan Rollow and Gunnar Beets.

I originally asked why the mount option "userquota" and "groupquota" should be added to all "rw" advfs
filesystems in the /etc/fstab regardless of whether quota enforcement is
enable.

You will find system-script which generates the *.HTML file on.

ftp://ftp.digital.com./pub/DEC/IAS/sys_check ( Try it)

Apparently the quota mechanism is the only way of AdvFS has
of keeping accurate disk space usage totals for df(1). Without
the options the df(1) can get out of sync with the actual state
of the file system.

Gunnar Beets <gunnar_at_surfar.ugo.dec.com> replied

Adding the userquota and groupquota mount options to the mount list does not
cause these quotas to be observed or enforced. It merely makes it possible
for vquotacheck to be run against the desired volume. After this utility has
been run, if the file system really has available space, it should be
available to the system.
