As to whether the PC164 will run faster with 256 bit memory path over
128, the answer from DEC Semiconductor group says yes, by about 15%.
It may be worth a try once I can get the funds to buy the memory for
that other bank. I've got 256 MB now, and the instructions say to use
the same density/type/number in each bank.
As to the pathological C code with the 67000+ characters in the static
declaration line, there was no solid answer. The code turned out to be
a bit map for a logo in a plug-in for the GNU Image Manipulation
Program (GIMP). We changed the code so that it did use this, so the
compilation of this code completed, but there were other problems that
we're still trying to solve.
thanks again for the replies.
