Using 3.5" Magneto-Optical Disk with DEC Alpha 500/500

Dear Sir,

Some weeks ago I receveid by you (through our INFO centre) precious
suggestions about the connection of a 3.5" MO drive to our workstation
DEC Alpha 500/500. Now, the unit has been set as "DISK DRIVE" and it
works rather well, so I would need your help.
I am able to read and write MO disks up to 230 Mb of capacity, but I
am not able to read and write 640 Mb MO disks. The reason should be
the "anomalous" format of 640 Mb disks.
Indeed, they are formatted to 2048 bytes/sector instead of 512
bytes/sector. In fact, trying to mount a 640 Mb disk, the workstation
sees it as a 118 Mb disk, approximately equivalent to 640/4.

Could I add an entry in the /etc/disktab file assuming as template
the DEC RWZ21 entry (for 230 Mb MO disk drives) setting the "se"
value to 2048 ? Do you think that this could be the right solution ?
Should I follow another procedure ?

Thank you very much for your kind attention

Sincerely yours
