Hi gurus,
I try again to (and surely I will) get some help from you.
I recently bought an LN17ps printer, and I need to manage it from
DIGITAL UNIX, but into the CD related to the product I can only find
drivers and management software for MAC, Windows3.1, Windows95 and WNT.
I tried to use the LPS510 software, but this software talk with printers
using the TCP port 170 (not the port 515 used by lpd), and the LN17ps does
not accept connections to this port.
I also tried to create an entry in the printcap file such that:
lpssc:\
:of=/tmp/testif:\
:rm=lpssc.ge.infn.it:\
:rp=PASSTHRU:\
:mx#0:\
:lf=/usr/spool/lpd/errorlog:\
:sd=/usr/spool/lpd/lpssc:
as suggested in the printer configuration manual, and this entry works
(I can print) but in this way it's difficult to generate a banner page
- I should create an "output filter" by hand to do that: defining the
printer as remote, any "of" used doesn't generate the banner - and I'm in
big troubles if I want an accounting (and I want!).
I mailed to printer_at_digitals.com to get a driver for DUX, but at the
location returned from them I can only find drivers for hp-ux, sunOS,
solaris and aix. DUX driver is missing!
Can you help me?
TIA.
Alessandro
