Hi List,
Recently, I asked about printing to a VXT-2000+.
Unfortunately, I got no reponses, but I did find
a solution. A very precise answer was to be found
in, of all places, the Linux Printing HOWTO. In
there is a little perl script which buffers the
file you want printed in an appropriate manner,
and sends it to the VXT's port 9100. The "protocol"
used is the same as that for printing to an old
model HP jetdirect print server.
For those who don't have the HOWTO available but want
the perl script, it can be found, among other places, at:
http://www.viemeister.com/LDP/HOWTO/Printing-HOWTO-11.html
under the heading "To older HPs".
Interestingly enough, AFAIK, if one tries to print to
the VXTs port 9100 while something else is printing,
the new print job is silently discarded. But I could
be wrong about this...

Hi Managers,
I have connected a postscript printer to the parallel
port of a VXT-2000+. I would like to be able to print
to that printer. Can anyone tell me how it can be done?
So far, I have discovered that if you check the "host
accessible printer port" box in the "Customize Serial
and Parallel Ports" window, I can telnet to port 9100
of the VXT and anything I type is transmitted to the
printer. However, it seems that the printer is reluctant
to print more than one page of whatever I send it!
Any ideas? Ideally, I'd prefer to talk to the VXT
on port 515, the lpr/lpd port, but...
Many thanks in advance,
