How are EISA-Cards initialized in Alpha-AXPs?

I have an Alpha AXP-150 (Jensen-Board) with EISA-slots and want to run two
Ethernet-Cards under Linux. So far the Linux-Kernels don't initialize the cards
in the EISA-slots. Does anybody know how this happens? Or can anybody tell me
where I can find more information about EISA-implementations? Please answer to
my personal address too ...
