Thanks to all who replied to my original question about getting
a Fast Ethernet board to work in my AlphaStation 255/233. Most
suggested upgrading the firmware. So that is what I did, and that
did seem to get me further. I no longer get the error on powerup
that I was getting. However when I boot DU I get an error when tu0
loads. Here are the messages I get when I boot DU:
tu0: DECchip 21140-AA: Revision 2.0
tu0 at pci0 slot 12
tu0: DEC Fast Ethernet Interface, hardware address: xx.xx.xx.xx.xx.xx
tu0: console mode: Selecting UTP (100BaseT) port: no link
The machine that works give me slightly different messages:
tu0: DECchip 21140-AA: Revision 2.0
tu0: auto negotiation capable device: National DP83840
tu0 at pci0 slot 12
tu0: auto negotiation off: Selecting 100BaseTX (UTP) port: half duplex
Any ideas on the cause for the difference? I've checked the SRM console
settings and all the software configuration stuff I can think of.
Thanks again,
Mike
