I have a few DU systems running Networker (1 server, 2 clients) to backup their advfs file domains. Now, what if I should lose my usr partition. There goes my current index information.
I would assume that I have to rebuild the core system from scratch, install the Networker software,
do the licensing thing, and then restore the old nsr directory from tape. Now that's where I'm getting a technical mental block, How will the new Networker install know what the index is for the nsr/index backed up to tape? The center of Networker knowing what's where is the index file
which contains the map for the server and it's clients. Can someone tell me (hopefully from experience) how to go about restoring Networker and it's most current files from tape with a
new Networker install? Would it be smart of me to copy out the /usr/index ( or even the whole nsr directory recursively, to a different disk immediately following each group backup? I could maybe copy it back over after re-installing root, usr and Networker. I know there's gotta be a way, and
hopefully not too tedious.
Thanks for any help,
