Dear managers,
I got response from the following kind people:
Kurt Carlson
Claude SOMA
Steve Strobel
Ryan R. Ziegler
Most of them point out the I should apply/check for some patches for ADVFS.
Actually, we had applied the "AdvFS Consolidated Patch". The id is
"OSF365-360061".
Anyway, the server had been very unstable (crash many time). The Digital
people checked the core dump files and said that there were some problems
with the CPU board. They replaced it and the server seemed to be fine except
one thing. We found that one user's directory cannot be access. It simply
crashes (core dump) when we try to ls, rm, or tar the content of that directory.
We may need to re-initialize the RAID disk again! We have been thinking of
building a cluster but now we have to reconsider the idea as the products
from Digital seems not mature enough. (The 8200 server has been running for
just 3-4 months!)
I would like to hear any comment on the directory problem and clustering
if you have that experience.
Thanks again.
