System clock gained a day on reboot

After rebooting an AlphaStation 600 running OSF V3.2d-1
at approximately 4.40 pm on Saturday 4th January 1997
the system clock thinks it is 16.40 on Sunday 5th January
1997. The clock did not gain a day when rebooted in 1996.
Is this a known problem? If so can someone please point me
to the solution.

Many thanks
