I had two questions:

>Thinking about adding a TZ877 stacker to a new machine that will run
>DU4.0. Any comments from the peanut gallery on how these run from the DU
>perspective (or any perspective, for that matter?) Any addition software
>need to be or should be purchased along with the drive?

First, I had a typo... the 877 is superceded by the 887 which is the drive
I'm looking into. You need either the Media Robot Utility or the SCSI CAM
Layered components to run the stacker from DU, otherwise you just run
through the magazine serially each time you mount and dismount a tape.
Now the SPD for SCSI CAM says Networker or MRU give you right to use SCSI
CAM. Also I got a note that MRU may come bundled with the drive. So this
begs the question, do you need both MRU and SCSI CAM? Does either come
bundled with Networker?

>Also, I'm putting up SCT's Banner student system on this box. Now, at
>this point, SCT hasn't recommended any additional software (layered
>products) be installed. Any one have any recommendations on additions
>for use from the development perspective?

COBOL... that was about it.

Once again, thanks to the list...

Jim
