Managers,
We recently got a brand new Alpha 4000 5/300 and have a RAID 200
subsystem. It will be used to hold a library database. We wanted to have
1 system disk and another disk to shadow the system disk on the scsi bus
and then 2 RAID 5 5-member disk groups (2 groups of 5 disks running RAID
5)
My question is, if we wanted to spread swap out over 2 disks
instead of just having 1 swap partition, what would be the best method for
putting swap seeing as though we don't have 2 disks that aren't in a RAID
configuration?
I don't know if it is a good idea to put all the swap on the
shadowed system disk... then we are shadowing swap. Or is it a bad
idea to mix swap in the RAID 5 configuration? Or should we just look into
getting a couple of smaller disks on the scsi bus and just put swap there?
I'm new at RAID technology so please any ideas would be
appreciated.
