In fact, there were two separate questions :
1) is the LN17ps supported by Digital UNIX ?
2) why -Nx option is not supported by Digital UNIX ?
1) The answer at the first question is NO . In a next release, there will be a
partial support for the LN17ps (see the next answer).
2) The -N option is supported only for printservers. If I try to use lpspr
and redicrect to the LN17ps , the printer doesn't understand all the
postscript commands. The -N option is supported on Ultrix and I'm able to
print to an HPIV SI/Mx printer from Ultrix with all the options.
It's quite a pity to see that OpenVMS engineering has done the effort to
support very quickly the LN17ps printer with DCPS and that for UNIX it was
not the case and furthermore that filters and other programs ignore the -N
option.
I think, I'll continue to buy non-Digital laserprinters.
