One of our users gets the following error message from the C compiler when he
tries to compile even the simplest program.

> 52 : osiris:endian> cc -o endian endian.c
> ld:
> make_outbuf: cannot ftruncate(No such file or directory)

I get the same error if I try to compile in his directory. We are running the
following OSF software
DEC OSF/1 V3.2 (Rev. 214); Wed Nov 27 11:52:15 GMT 1996
DEC OSF/1 V3.2 Worksystem Software (Rev. 214)
The particular users home directory is on an SGI Indy machine running Irix 5.3
so I suspect some sort of interaction problem between the 2 systems. Anyone
come accross this error before and Can offer any help?
