My original post basically said that I couldn't get dtadvfs GUI
interface to start on my machine. What happened is that I started
using NIS for shared files on my systems. The services file in NIS
did not have the proper entries for advfs utilities. They are as
follows:
advfsd-snmp 1163/udp #advfs private SNMP request port
advfsd-snmp-trap 1164/udp #advfs private SNMP trap port
AdvFS 30000/tcp advfs # Added for AdvFS daemon
command port
I added these into my NIS services files and have things working
properly now. Thanks for the help that others offered.

Thought for the day:
Our meetings are held
to discuss many problems
which would never arise
if we held fewer meetings.
