SIMM mismatch in AlphaStation 250

Hi,

I have an AlphaStation 250 266/4 with 160 MB RAM. We are trying to get it
to 384 MB. When I remove the 8 MB SIMMs and insert the 64 MB SIMMs, I get
a SIMM mismatch on bank 1 ( the one with the new SIMMs) and 128 MB in bank
0. If I swap the banks, I see 256 MB, with a SIMM mismatch in bank 1. If I
replace the 32 MB SIMMs wuth the 8 MB SIMMs, same problems. The 32 MB
SIMMs and the 8 MB SIMMs together are fine.

I don't suspect bad SIMMs, since the 256 MB works fine even with the SIMM
mismatch. I would think that the machine has a problem with more than 256
MB, but I have 2 other AlphaStation 250's (one purchased earlier, one
later than the problem machine) which upgraded to 384 MB just fine.

Anyone have any idea where I can go from here? We'd really like to get the
RAM in there.

Thanks in advance,
