After recently installing OSF 4.0B onto a DEC AlphaStation 250, I have had NFS errors of the form
NFS3 server harmony not responding still trying
NFS3 server harmony ok
...
This usually occurs when attempting to execute large binaries such as Netscape off the NFS mounted disk (/usr/local). Below is an outline of the two machines in question, and other details.

The client is a faster machine than the server. Is it possible that this is the cause of the NFS errors? I have verified the network configuration with another machine of a similar type, and everything checks out okay. There are no network problems, ie no
dropped packets or delays, between the server and client.
I tried mounting the filesystem as NFS2, but it just seemed to make it worse.
