/dev/pts world writable?

Hi,

Just a quickie...

I've noticed that /dev/pts is world writable on my Digital UNIX
systems, is there any need for this? As far as I'm aware, the pts
files should be created and managed by root (which will change the
owners and modes as needed), which means that 755 should be
acceptable.

Any firm answers either way before I go ahead and try it?

Thanks,
Rob
