OSF Managers...

Many thanks to those who passed on suggestions to me, they were used but the solution was easier than I could have imagined.

Problem : After installing OSF4.0B, the machine was working okay on the network, until it was overloaded, especially using NFS.

Solution : The problem ended up not being an NFS problem. NFS only overloaded the system to a level that caused it to be noticeable.

In order to install 4.0B, a firmware update was performed. This defaulted all values, including the ewa0_mode value of twisted_pair, (to bnc). I (ignorantly) set it to twisted_pair full duplex, not knowing that the supporting network didn't allow for full
duplex. Only when one of the network administrators pointed this out to me did I realise.

Setting the mode to twisted_pair has solved the problems. Many thanks to those who helped me eliminate many of the possibilities..
