Hi DU Admins
In order to save outlay we're planning on cancelling the OSF-USR
license for 2 of our DEC 3000 - M400 workstations. These mostly
have only one user and hardly ever more than 2.
When I delete the OSF-USR license only root can log in. If anyone
else tries to log in they get the "Too many users ... " message.
who and w show root as the only user logged in and ps -ef shows no
processes running except those owned by root.
We're running OSF/1 v3.2 and the installation guide says:
The OSF-BASE PAK ... provides simultaneous login capacity for two
users ... The user root does not count as an interactive operating
system user.
So what's going on? How come only root can login?
We're running NIS if that's of any relevance.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Ian
