Hello,
My original question was :
-------------------------------------
I am looking for DNS search order on OSF environment. For example:
My computer's name is : alpha.sci.ege.edu.tr
when I type
telnet teleferik
it searches for teleferik.sci.ege.edu.tr and says host unknown. Because
domain name of teleferik is eng.ege.edu.tr.
I want our system to search for sci.ege.edu.tr
eng.ege.edu.tr
..... etc.
I know that it is possible on Windows95 (DNS Search order). I wonder if I
can do the same thing on DU3.2c.
(I don't want to edit /etc/hosts file for all individual hosts)
Thanks in advance.

and others who may be now answering..
The solution :
replace 'domain' entry in /etc/resolv.conf with:
search sci.ege.edu.tr eng.ege.edu.tr
Also,
Dick Abraham <abrahad_at_govonca.gov.on.ca> has suggested
set a domain variable called LOCALDOMAIN which should set the
domain search order. e.g.
in csh> setenv LOCALDOMAIN sci.ege.edu.tr eng.ege.edu.tr
Thanks to all answers.
