Hi All
We're looking into alpha systems from third party suppliers.
Sometimes called alpha clones although they use Dec motherboards.
I found James Spottiswoode's summary (May, 1996) in the archives
which gave good reports about Aspen Systems (www.aspsys.com) and
Nekotech (www.alphapower.com).
Both are offering alpha systems with the Alpha AXP 21164-A CPU
at clock rates up to 500 Mhz.
The systems from Aspen use a PCI back-plane which allows expansion
up to 2Gb of DRAM. One of our concerns is whether the 34 Mhz PCI bus
is fast enough to get maximum advantage from the 500 Mhz CPU?
Would anyone running any of these or similar systems like to comment
on their performance?
Thanks
Ian
