XDMCP query from PC running eXceed

Hi,
We have a new Alphasever 1000 running DU 4.0b. We also have some
PC's running Hummingbird eXceed X-server software. There are two
ways to configure eXceed: 1. passive/multi mode, which uses the MS
Windows window manager to manage the screen, with each Xwindow app
in its own Windows window; or 2. single/XDMCP query mode, which does
an XDMCP query to a specified host, and then the X session is in one
large Windows window. This allows you run native window managers
like HP Vue, or CDE. Our prior experience with XDMCP query mode was
on HP servers, where the VUE login screen would come up on the PC,
the user would then login, and voila, HP VUE desktop. Under DU 4.0,
eXceed gets and error: xdm session declined. We had configured the
alpha to use CDE, and dtlogin is running. Checking the Xaccess file,
shows it should allow access from any host (the default).

All suggestions greatly appreciated,
