DNS search order

Hi, Someone had asked a little while ago how to get their machine to
search in different domains for a name. For example, if the target
machine was a.foo.bar and the machine from which you were trying to reach
it was b.bar.foo, how would you set it up so that you would only have to
say:

telnet b

and it should automatically figure out b.bar.foo.

Well, I looked in my linux machine and did the same on my alpha and it
worked. Basically, in the /etc/resolv.conf file, there's a line that
says:

domain foo.bar

I added the following

search foo.bar bar bar.foo

Once I did that, it worked like I illustrated above.

I hope this helps that person who had asked the question earlier.

Sincerely
Santosh Krishnan
