Building nachos on DU4.0

Hello admins --

We are attempting to build the Nachos environment for an operating systems
class at our site, and are running into problems. I was able to build a
MIPS (decstation-ultrix) cross compiler and binutils (gcc-2.7.2 and
binutils-2.7). However, when some of the portions of Nachos tries to
build, it fails with a problem of the .o file not being in the correct
format. Any ideas, or does anyone have a procedure for getting this
working?
