Ok, I've got this brand new Alpha, running DU 4.0b. I was about ready to
set up a file domain on each of my two RZ29s, i.e. use the 'c' partition on
each as a domain. I also have an RZ28 that has the root and usr domains,
and a swap partition of appx. 390MB. The machine has 128MB of physical
memory.
So my new question relates to use of swap. Am I better off performance-wise
using the c partitions on the 29s for the domains, leaving my currently
configured swap space alone, or (take a big breath) is it better to create
swap partitions (using 'b') on the 29s, and create the domains with the a,
g, and h partitions? In the former case, does 390MB sound about right for
swap on a 128MB machine? In the latter case, presumably I could use the
current swap space to add to one of the other domains. (I do have the
Advanced Filesystem Utilities licensed and loaded.)
I have about 25 users, primarily doing development. Lately, a lot of our
development requires Oracle, though the databases never get really huge.
The machine will eventually be our mail server, but I have no plans to make
it a news server at this time.
Any and all recommendations welcomed. TIA.
