Our configuration here at Bloomfield College has our Windows 3.1 users
accessing our DEC AlphaServer 2000 5/300 using Wintegrate.
Our campus has a Novell 3.12 ethernet LAN which has been subnetted
with 8 subnetworks distributed via a fiber optic backbone thoughout 16
buildings. Our file server (where the Wintegrate application runs) and
the DEC AlphaServer are each on their own subnet. We have a Bay
Networks BLN Router (routing both IPX and IP protocols) and a Bay
Networks System 5000 Hub at the heart of the LAN with Bay Network's
2814 and 2803 Hubs ditributed thoughout the campus.
We went home Wednesday night and everything was working fine. When we
came in the next AM, it was taking about 2-3 minutes for our users to
get the login prompt so that they could login to the DEC Alpha. The
same thing is happening to all users, no matter which subnet they're
on. We have no problem telnetting to any other IP address and getting
a quick response, just the DEC Alpha.
Any recommendations as far as what we can do to fix this problem would
be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
